Getting started
From sign-up to the first note your AI assistant can find. Workspace, recovery phrase, first sketch and dreaming.
What it is for
Kepos is shared memory for you, your team and your AI assistants. Everything you capture lives in one place, versioned and encrypted.
This page takes you from sign-up to the point where your assistant can use your notes.
How to do it

Create your workspace
After signing up you name your workspace and pick your plan. Kepos creates two vaults for you: a personal one that only you can see, and a shared one for your team.

Keep your recovery phrase safe
You see 24 words exactly once. Write them down and keep them apart from your password. If you forget your password, this phrase gets you back into your encrypted vaults.

Capture your first thought
Create a sketch: on your phone through the quick actions in the bottom right corner, in the browser through “Sketch” at the top of the inbox. One sentence is enough. “Inbox and sketches” explains what happens next.

Connect your AI assistant
Under “Me” → “Connect your AI” you give your assistant access. From then on it reads and writes your notes directly. The set-up for each assistant is listed on the overview page of these docs.

Check dreaming
Open “Dreams” in the sidebar. The status line at the top tells you whether dreaming is running. If something is missing, it says exactly what.
What Kepos does in the background
Every note is versioned. Each saved state stays in the note’s history, and you can go back to any of them.
Your content is stored encrypted. The server can decrypt it for search and dreaming, so Kepos is not a zero-knowledge system. “Dreaming and permission” explains how access for dreaming works.
Common questions
Do I need an AI assistant?
No. Notes, sketches, search and the graph work without one. The assistant is what turns Kepos into what it is built for: memory that several assistants share.
Which plans include dreaming?
Team and Business. Solo includes notes, sketches, search and connecting your assistants, but no dreaming.
Can I see my recovery phrase again later?
No. Kepos shows it once and does not store it, so save it right when you create your workspace.
